California is facing one of the worst droughts in history, yet California Democrats voted against drought relief for their home state. The drought is so bad Governor Jerry Brown declared a State of Emergency last month.

Yesterday, with bipartisan support, the House passed an emergency water delivery bill that would provide additional water for agricultural uses in the San Joaquin Valley while simultaneously shift water usage away from some environmental purposes, such as fish rehabilitation.

Reps. Raul Ruiz, Ami Bera, Julia Brownley, Scott Peters, Lois Capps and John Garamendi all voted against the common sense legislation.

“It’s a sad day for California when Democrats put fish ahead of farmers and drought relief. Their opposition to fixing this man-made water shortage is not only puzzling, it’s offensive.” – Alleigh Marré, NRCC Spokeswoman

  1. Since this bill was passed on almost strict party-line vote, I am guessing there were other provisions that the NRCC is not telling us.
