How can you say that you are ahead in “major endorsements?” It would appear that as far as State level elected officials, Christine Rubin has not only more but more recent and more powerful endorsements. Brian Jones seems to have many more than you do even though his are at the community level.
By the way, what happened to some of the names that used to be on your list?
Perhaps you haven’t paid attention to their websites but before you make claims like this, you should do some research before making false claims in your next press release.
This race is starting to look very sad. The claim that Bill Wells makes that he is leading in all “major endorsements” is laughable. I checked his web-site, he only has 20 endorsements in all. With this election being decided in 2 months; I think we are all being set up for an upset. What about the endorsements of Duncan Hunter (either one would do) or Joel Anderson? Hell, if you go up North on the 15 you might find Bilbray or Issa. The voters would then know who they might support.
The names he took down is anybody’s guess.
Just a reminder, people, that if you are making claims or allegations, it would be helpful to state factually what it is exactly you are saying. We have no way of knowing whether a candidate “removing endorsements from their website” is a whispering campaign or not; potentially — without knowing the names — maybe neither does the candidate. Then, the next commenter repeats the “charge” (as above), and pretty soon it becomes “fact” without anyone ever knowing the specifics. What names are you suggesting were removed? State them, so at the least the candidate has a chance to respond, or even deny. The way the charge is made, no one even begins to know whether it’s an implication or based in fact. Just a word of caution.
I believe the proof is in the pudding.
I have, and continue to work, side-by-side with Bill Wells on numerous committees and issues. In my dealing with him, I discovered that Bill Wells is a high quality caliber-type person that is sensitive to peoples concerns. He has proven to me that he is a competent and exceptional leader with good and sound judgement in his decision making abilities. He is a “real” person and understands real world demands.
With these traits and numerous more, I am proud to be an endorser of Bill Wells because I know he will suceed through his “strength” and the “will” to “serve the people” in the 77th Assembly with dignity and dedication.
Good job bill, As Planning commisioner in El Cajon I appreciate the great job you have done, and continue to do on city council. Bill you are the true conservative and I look foward to supporting you. Great job on getting the very important CRA endorsement that says alot about you conservative philosophy. Keep up the hard work.
Keep up the good work Bill. Your work as Planning Commissioner and City Councilman has greatly benefitted the City of El Cajon. You’re a rock solid conservative willing to step it up. The endorsements you have collected so far are impressive.
Would someone please educate me on the “great job” Mr. Wells has done while being on the El Cajon City Council for 16 months.
He took office in December of 2008 and then told people 3 months later that he was going to be running for Mr. Anderson’s Assembly Seat. He pulled papers for the Assembly over the summer and as a part time city council it seems to me that it would be hard to make a significant change in that short a time.
I have looked through the council minutes and can’t find anything substantial he put forward.
Just to be fair, I am in the process of doing the same thing for the other candidates running to represent me.
In response to Rostra Administrator,
The names that have been removed from Mr. Wells website but are still on the handout that I have here, distributed at a campaign event, are:
Mary Kuper, Pro Life Advocate
Holly Brown, Pro Life Advocate
Michael Schwartz
Sorry for the delay in answering you.
Mike
So, Mike, let’s be sure we have this straight: If the Wells campaign either listed some names on its website in error, or any of his supporters preferred not to be on the website, there is something wrong with them being removed? It’s a crime to remove them, even if they were originally listed in error? You’d much prefer that the campaign continue to list them on the website incorrectly, so you’d be able to play even more of a game of “gotcha politics” than you’ve been playing?
The names have been removed from the website, but they are “still on the handout” (your words) from prior to that? So, you expected that when they were removed from the website, that they would disappear from a piece of paper they were on previously? Indeed, Mr. Wells must be a magician.
I’d much prefer a candidate to fix any incorrect endorsements than continue to list them, whatever the circumstance behind it. Which, is minor to the point of being irrelevant except to hacks that try to chew at a candidates’ integrity.
Admit you support one of the other candidates, then address some real issues.
Greg,
You misunderstand, so let’s actually “get this straight” (your words)…
I asked a question. I did not make ANY accusations. I have heard that 2 of those people were listed without actually making an endorsement but did not feel, until you pushed me, to say that was the case. It is far from a crime, but I did feel as a constituent of the 77th Assembly District, I had the right to know and you should too.
As for fixing it, if he had a signed piece of paper or an email from them, declaring their endorsement, then there wouldn’t have been a problem but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Obviously they cannot be removed from the handout, after it was printed but my question is if it should have been there in the first place.
This is not “gotcha politics,” these are legitimate questions that I feel are far from “irrelevant” (your words) directed to a candidate that wants to represent my area in the California State Legislature. In fact, he had a full week to address them himself but in that time, another was removed from the website. If the candidates don’t have “integrity,” (your word) then I do not want them in Sacramento representing me!
It would appear that you should read the words I wrote and get an answer to the question before you accuse me of “gotcha politics.”
Mike
For whatever reason, Mr. Wells possibly removed some names from his website. Done.
Note to all: Please utilize “I have heard” comments with great caution and good judgment on this site. Thank you.
Frankly, I think they are all lucky Richard Bailey dropped out. That guy was going to give them all a run for their money at the very least.
I have met with and spoken with Mr. Jones, Mr. Wells, and Ms. Rubin extensively. As someone who is on a bulldog-esque quest to stop unethical candidates from being elected, it is my humble opinion that none of these three have done anything to warrant an attack based on their lack of ethics.
Three conservative candidates with distinct, different priorities. None of the three, if elected, will embarrass us or push the line of ethics.
