A year ago I understood the hesitancy on the part of elected officials in San Diego to do anything other than at least appear to pursue efforts to keep the Chargers here.
The tide has turned. The team led by Mark Fabiani has either purposely or thru complete PR incompetence forced the average citizen into saying “whatever.”
A politician with clout and the fortitude to simply proclaim, “Enough — leave if you want, but no more time and money spent trying to keep you,” would be a gutsy, refreshing sensation in the eyes of the public.
Is there one?

The politicians got played; the Chargers always intended to leave because they know that a ballot initiative for a tax hike won’t fly.
It’s campaign season and the Chargers are gone. Time for Republicans to start saying “Funding capital improvements, for private businesses, isn’t the proper role of government.”
