Adrian Florido may just be the Best Reporter you’ve never heard of ! This week he followed a twisting path to the truth about the critical computer services contract for the shell-shocked San Diego City Redistricting Commission. Florido reports the Fuzzy Logic (my phrase, not his) used to apparently reject bids from experienced private firms, preparing instead to turn to the quasi-public San Diego Data Processing Corp!
The Data Processing Corp. was originally founded by the City of San Diego and is still “City-controlled.” So what could go wrong if they provide vital computer analysis of the City Council’s own redistricting maps?! That’s the question posed by hard-charging District 6 councilwoman Lorie Zapf, who has significant concerns, VOSD says, about “potential conflicts.” Voice reporter Adrian Florido says Zapf has asked another Human Dynamo (City Attorney Jan Goldsmith) to look into that issue. Uh oh!
That computer contract award could be acted on by the Commission as soon as this Thursday (May 5th) per Voice of SD.
…………… What Next from the Fuzzy Commission?
What else can go wrong for the Gang that Couldn’t Draw Straight? Oh, they’ll think of some new PR nightmare or personnel controversy at the Redistricting Commission. It’s what they do best, and we can count on more awkward entertainment from them in the future.
Think: “Revenge of the Nerds” meets The “Keystone Kops.” If it wasn’t so serious, and expensive, it would be funny.

Interesting reader comments at the VoSD story. Trying to disparage VoSD, the article’s author, a VoSD board member, Rose Insitute, etc.
I took a quick look at the Rose Institute board list…interesting that mud is being slung at Buzz Wooley but no mention of other board members such as Bob Hertzberg.
Por que?
Por que?
Fuzzy Logic!
