A new leader in the Clubhouse at Chula Vista today, and the frontrunner is threatend with a late charge in Oceanside’s council derby.
CHULA VISTA
Jill Galvez (5041) passed Pat Aguilar (5014) for the 2nd runoff spot in Chula Vista, Council seat 2. Yesterday Aguilar led by 7 votes.
OCEANSIDE COUNCIL
The lead of liberal activist Chuck Lowery dropped from 118 votes yesterday, to just 43 votes today, over rival Lloyd Prosser… 7941 Lowery, 7898 Prosser… There are about 7500 more votes to count in O’side.
S.D. SCHOOL BOARD
Steve Rosen upped his lead over incumbent Katherine Nakamura from 106 votes yesterday to 176 today (8,777 Rosen to 8,601 Nakamura). Should incumbent Nakamura be ousted in the primary, it would be a major upset.
POWAY RECALL
Little change in the contest to choose a successor for the recalled Betty Rexford. John Mullin 2363 today vs. Steve Vaus 2251.
VOTES STILL TO TABULATE
123,500 votes are still outstanding countywide. The count is slower now since these are ALL mail or provisional ballots. State law requires the Registrar’s staff to individually compare the signature on the vote envelope with the signature on file in Registration records. It is time-consuming, but also an important safeguard against election fraud.

With 7,500 more votes to count, If the trend holds Prosser will pass Lowery and become the City Council Member
It ain’t over till… it is. The next time someone hauls out the old “my vote doesn’t make a difference” whine, hand them some cheese and show them these numbers.
