Garrick next GOP leader

North County’s Martin Garrick is in line to succeed Sam Blakeslee
as floor leader of the State Assembly’s 29 Republicans. (Hat Tip
to Jon Fleischman who broke the story tonight).

Garrick, of Solana Beach, won the 74th Assembly district in 2006,
and is eligible for a third 2-year term. He faces Democrat council-
woman Crystal Crawford of Del Mar this November.

Blakeslee is term-limited and will be busy this year winning the state
senate being vacated by Abel Maldonado. Garrick would thus lead
GOP efforts to gain Assembly seats around California in what should be
a good year for conservatives.

This would be a very positive development for Republicans in
San Diego County. Stay tuned to SD Rostra for further updates.

  1. That is a great choice!!! I can’t think of a better person who Californians from all walks of life can identify with on a very personal level. And on the flip side, Martin Garrick is someone who really understands what it is like to be a working Californian…
