Scott Peters may try to spin away history, but we remember what happened.

November 18, 2002

11 years ago today, whistleblower Diann Shipione spoke out against Scott Peters’ pension underfunding scheme that nearly sent San Diego to the brink of bankruptcy.

Councilmember Scott Peters blindly votes to spike pension benefits and underfund the pension system – creating what experts called a “Ponzi Scheme” that put San Diego on the brink of bankruptcy.

What’s worse?  Peters attacked the whistleblower for speaking out.  Instead of attacking whistleblowers like Peters did — calling her “crazy and mad” — we should be protecting them.

  1. Council President Scott Peters was mean to many people during City Council meetings including David Ross the Waterman who stood up for the Homeless. Scott Peters also use to edit City TV videos of City Council hearings to erase anything embarrassing to Peters. Editing of hearings could happen because the videos are not the official public record. Only the audio kept by the City Clerk is official and cannot be altered for Political reasons.

As City Council President Peters also refused to put the issue of the Children’s Pool Trust Amendment on the City Council dockets. Thus allowing a fellow La Jolla lawyer to bill the City $1 million taxpayer funds.

Then there was that time Peter tried to get rid of the 30 foot Coastal Height limit in the name of the poor and Affordable Housing.

  2. Sounds like a bad guy, how did he get elected?

He will be willing to spend $10-$20 million of his wife’s family money to get reelected, attract low information voters with $1000 per 30 second TV ads for the last month of the campaign.

Looks like a tough guy to knock off in this low information, early voting, dependence on government situation we find ourselves in.

  3. ..and then there is the Mana from heaven that is the Deplorable Care Act debacle…more like fish than wine…smells worse with the passing of time…and he has his snout nostral deep in it!
