SAN DIEGO – Mayoral candidate Bonnie Dumanis issued the following statement in response to Mayor Jerry Sanders’ annual State of the City address, which was delivered this evening.
“Mayor Sanders is right – it’s time to take San Diego to the next level. It’s critical that we build on the Mayor’s accomplishments and not lose the forward momentum he has created.
“The Mayor was confronted with multiple major challenges when he took office and since then has done an outstanding job addressing the financial crises crippling San Diego. His continued, strong leadership has left our city well-positioned to address the challenges we face in the future. I’m honored to have his endorsement to succeed him as Mayor.
“It’s imperative that as Mayor Sanders completes the last year of his term, our city recommits itself to key principles: recognizing the voters have made clear they want the city to live within its means and not raise taxes, reforming how the city does business, and leveraging our key assets to encourage job growth.”
