  1. Putting aside the real or imagined merits of levying such a tax — why on earth should the proceeds go to the POST OFFICE?

    IF this tax “to stop spam” makes sense (and I don’t think it does), then use the tax to reduce some OTHER tax. The LAST thing we need to do is to give the government (or the post office) MORE of our money.

  2. Does any sane person think that, once this tax is implemented, it will STAY at a penny per email (or per gigabit)? Seriously??

    Kind of like the top 6% rate of the original U.S. income tax (6% only on people making what today would be millions of dollars). That didn’t go well.
