Over 300 Business and Community Leaders To Gather for “NO on Prop D” Campaign Kickoff
Launch of Grassroots Effort to Stop the “Blank Check” Sales Tax
What: | Official campaign kickoff event and fundraiser for “No on Prop D” Campaign – Stop the San Diego Sales Tax |
Who: | Councilmember Carl DeMaio
Lani Lutar, San Diego County Taxpayers Association TJ Zane, Lincoln Club of San Diego County …joined by over 300 business and community leaders. |
When: | August 25, 2010 (5:00pm – 7:00pm) |
Where: | Coles Fine Flooring (1170 West Morena Blvd, San Diego, CA 92110) |
Why: | Proponents of Prop D will have $1 million or more from labor unions and special interests to spend in their campaign to convince San Diegans to approve this “blank check” tax increase for a city government that has failed to reform its finances.
We cannot match that special-interest money. Fortunately, our “No on Prop D” campaign has the support of the grassroots in San Diego – a broad spectrum of hard-working small business owners, neighborhood activists, and community leaders. Be there at the launch of our effort to “Stop the Sales Tax” in San Diego in favor of real, common-sense fiscal reform! |

Interesting article on muni finances from an investor perspective. Note in first paragraph that Warren Buffet/Berkshire Hathaway has backed way off insuring muni bonds — from $600M one year to $40M a year later….hmmmm….perhaps Warren, Charlie and the rest of BH boys see a day of reckoning approaching.
