At first the people of California passed a law stating that marriage would be defined as a union between a man and a woman. Then, a court overturned the law, claiming it was unconstitutional. So, later on, in 2008, after seven million people passed Proposition 8, the California constitution was actually changed. I went on the radio at this point predicting that somebody would find the amended constitution unconstitutional. I said it in a way that sounded sarcastic but I was also dead serious. Well, today, that is just exactly what happened. A federal judge has found the California constitution to be unconstitutional, that is, in serious conflict with the federal constitution, which, incidentally, says that our independent states have a right to make their own constitutions.
The rationale was that the state constitution violates federal rights, which must transcend all states and be true for all Americans, namely the promise for equal protection under the law. If the Supreme Court upholds this brilliant reasoning, it will have to explain why plural marriage is not also a candidate for equal protection. And what about marriage between children and adults? Do you think I’m exaggerating? Are you aware that in 1994 The American Psychiatric Association declassified pedophilia as an emotional disorder unless the person felt some kind of distress related to the feelings, just as they had declassified homosexuality in 1973? Did you know that NAMBLA marches in gay pride parades and talks about the beauty of love between an adult and a child just as gays talk about the suitability of love with the same gender? Did you know some college professors are teaching that the age of consent should be substantially lowered and point to ancient but “sophisticated” societies that did not have “hang-ups” over sex between an adult and a child?
Meanwhile, the will of some seven million Californians has been traded in for the opinion of one judge, democracy, hard at work. That’s seven million opinions not being tolerated for the sake of tolerance.

To all you insiders who read this. I’m just a fedup working stiff.
Maybe we republicans should leave this state and go somewhere where we don’t have to put up with this crap. A place with a party machine that doesn’t whine about this crap, but actually protects us from it.
angry republican:
Our own elected California State Supreme Court UPHELD Prop. 8 (6-1 vote I believe) last year. So don’t give up on the Golden State just yet.
This was one kooky Federal Judge today who, according to the San Francisco Chronicle, is gay and is now an
instant hero in the Bay Area. Enjoy your 15 minutes of fame, loser.
When this gets to the US Supreme Court, Proposition 8 will be declared valid. So hang in there for the long
fight ahead…and let’s elect a President in 2012 who will appoint more judges like Scalia, Roberts, and
Thomas to protect our society from these zealots.
Bob, a wonderful piece that makes perfect sense! You beautifully point out the ludicracy of this whole circus show of smoke and mirrors. Will the federal court system wake up and make a right judgement? I sure hope so! That would be tremendously refreshing for a change.
Hey Bob-What bothers me the most about this is that it is being forced upon me. We voted, twice in fact, and apparently my vote, along with many others, simply does not matter. Did you see me challenge the Presidental election? Maybe I should have. I mean after all am I not the only one alive and doesn’t the world revolve around me? I know my family history of my dad’s mother. My family helped settle this country and I have members of my family who fought against the British and have fought in every war that we have had. It sickens me.
Hi Bob,
I hope you are well! Thanks for making the obvious, obvious! A little too obvious, for some, which goes right over their thick skulls! Ahhh! Anyway, I’m in shock, no, I’m sick to my stomach that votes seem to be obsolete these days. Minority over majority seems to be the tail that wags the dog. Bunch of bull! We just can’t be silent and you’re doing a great job in that arena! Be encouraged!

Thanks Adam.
Hope you are doing well too, Thanks also Sandy and the rest of you for your comments. I may have an attorney on my radio show this week to discuss the overturning of Prop 8.

Like I said I’m a working stiff who works 60+ hours a week to pay for the unemployment benefits for the other reluctant 17%. I’m tired of hearing about gays whining about how life isn’t fair. But at least they have competent advocates who don’t compromise and win. Unlike my party who seems to care about a small elite and use the likes of this site and Limbaugh to keep us “less important people” who are filler for campaign rallies, all worked up emotional against the left while giving us nothing more but table scraps and further compromise so their “true” base rakes in the “real” benefits. Considering the state party’s past track record, I get more value of my time working for an hour overtime than taking that time to vote. What’s the point?
This site is for anyone to comment. As someone who thinks Rostra is an elitist vehicle to keep you emotionally engaged against the left, we do appreciate you still find it important enough to comment here.
There is at least one important distinction between Rostra and the Limbaugh method of “indoctrination” you cite. Rush gets paid.
Have you ever heard the phrase one bad customer experience will cost an owner 10 new customers. I went to a rally a couple years back. Where there were “suits” and regular people. The suits acted very self important either standing around or acting busy. They acted annoyed when a regular person approached them. Feeling that my time time was valuable enough to get your questions answered. I approached a tall man who was definitely in a position of leadership. I asked what was the purpose of this rally. He replied, to mobilize the base I then after pointing to protesters, asked how do you convert Democrats into Republicans. His face was like a deer caught in the headlights, as if he had never been asked the question. He then took out his blackberry and acted like he had very important business to attend to. Clearly he was shooing me away and not mulling over that question. Like a restaurant where the service was bad and now the product isn’t as good as it used to be. In addition to staying home. I tell others about my bad experience.
