THIS on “Trump conservatives,” from Jonah Goldberg in National Review:
I truly, honestly, and with all my heart and mind think Donald Trump’s most ardent supporters are making a yuuuuuuge mistake. I think they are being conned and played. I feel like a guy whose brother is being taken advantage of by a grifter. I’m watching helplessly as the con artist congratulates him for taking out a third mortgage.

The other leading candidates are showing no leadership on the immigration issue, leaving a path for the ultimate showman to make his play.
He has had very close ties to the Clinton family. So close that I fear he is in it to win it for her. Trump smells too much Ross Perot, and I fear he will follow in Perot’s footsteps. At least Perot explained how he expected to accomplish his(our) goals, but I’ve heard nothing from The Trump about how he will make the Mexican government build a fence.
Lets not forget Mr. Anti-immigration and his donation to our leftwing liberal Attorney General Kamala Harris, the former district attorney of sanctuary city San Francisco who of course declined the death penalty for an illegal alien cop killer.
Or, what the National Review’s Kevin Williamson, calls WHINOs.

None of them on either side can be trusted to do the right thing for America.
Harold,
I strongly disagree. I think most on both sides of the aisle not only try to do the right thing for America, but they also succeed more often than not. The United States of America is a great country and becoming so wouldn’t have happened if all of our political leaders were trying to do it harm.
Harold’s comment does raise a question. Why would someone with that jaundiced a view of the political process be interested in following politics at all, or even have any interest in reading and commenting on a political blog? Or, is it just this field of candidates that can’t be trusted?
Donald Trump is no conservative. I get his populist appeal but when I look at him, I see a guy who supported more gun restrictions, universal health care, crony capitalism, and a super-progressive tax rate.
Donald Trump is Hillary Clinton with a xenophobic view on immigration.
Would I invest in one of his projects? Probably but there is no way I’d want him as President
So most of you think Obama, Reid, Pelosi, Boner (sic intentional), etc are doing a great job and helping America. Politicians are in it for themselves. If you think otherwise then you are fool.
I believe in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights the way they were written and not what 9 old farts in black robes “think” they mean depending on their political leanings.
Don’t worry about Trump, he is a sheep in wolf clothing and is going nowhere.
A little trip down memory lane…

Guess Trump doesn’t think much of consistency.
In any case, there are reasons–not all of them bad–for his popularity that mainstream candidates would foolish to ignore.
Harold,
According to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights “the way they were written,” those “9 old farts in black robes” do get to decide what those two documents mean.
We are discussing a candidate running for president, as well as the other leading candidates.
It follows that a statement such as “None of them on either side can be trusted to do the right thing for America,” would be about those running for president — not Obama, Reid, Pelosi, or Boehner.
However, if you believe that no politician, ever, can be trusted — EVER — to do the right thing for America, then our original observation stands.
Let’s be careful about calling out fools, unless we are ok with looking in the mirror while doing so.
Hypocrisy, Can you educate me on the sections of the Constitution that mention gay marriage and the part about the government forcing us to buy insurance.
I have read it many times and just can not seem to find those sections.
This reminds me of the controversy concerning the Confederate Flag.
The one they always show is the Battle Flag of the Army of Northern Virginia. Most people have never seen a Confederate Flag.
Harold,
In my opinion, the 14th Amendment covers the same sex marriage issue and the 16th Ammendment covers your insurance question. More to the point, my opinion doesn’t matter; only the opinion of “the 9 old farts in robes” matters. At least that is what The Constitution says.
If he wins it’ll be by a hair. A really long, oddly colored, combed over hair.
Hypocrisy, I said the Bill of Rights. That ended with the first 10.
The next 17 can be tossed as they only fortify the government’s position.
Harold, should this be tossed also?…
“The Congress, whenever two thirds of both Houses shall deem it necessary, shall propose Amendments to this Constitution, or, on the Application of the Legislatures of two thirds of the several States, shall call a Convention for proposing Amendments, which, in either Case, shall be valid to all Intents and Purposes, as Part of this Constitution, when ratified by the Legislatures of three fourths of the several States, or by Conventions in three fourths thereof, as the one or the other Mode of Ratification may be proposed by the Congress…”
There are some that believe that Donald trump is Mitt Romney with a little more charisma. This, combined with the continued frustration from the base moderates and conservatives alike that feel the party is incompetent while the left is successful despite its blatant failures in foreign and domestic policy.
If this party would think more like Bill Belichick and less like a “system” coach. It would cause the left to scratch their heads and re think their play book. Thus diminishing Mr. Trump.
I lost all respect for Ted Cruz over this past week when I watched him celebrating perverted, pro-gay marriage sexist pig Donald Trump. Ted Cruz, now I know for sure that your entire pursuit of the presidency after just recently getting elected as a U. S. Senator is all about YOU and your lust to get a stage to talk about YOU. It is repulsive that you run around chasing TV cameras to get a televised audience, doing so by claiming you are all about Biblical values and pro-life and pro-traditional marriage, but as soon as the cameras are rolling it’s all about Ted Cruz, Ted Cruz filibustering congress to stay before the cameras as if you are a martyr for Ted Cruz. Then, you got chills up your spine for serial wife abuser and pro-gay marriage, anti-Christian bigot Donald Trump this week which truly revealed how quickly you would dump Christians in a heartbeat if you thought it would benefit Ted Cruz. In the 2009 Miss USA pageant, Donald Trump hired pornographic gay bigot Perez Hilton as a judge in the pageant to bash born again Christian Miss California Carrie Prejean as he asked her if she supported gay marriage for her final five question. Knowing in advance that Carrie Prejean is a Christian who doesn’t support gay marriage and that she was going to be the likely favorite to win the pageant, Donald Trump hired gay bigot Perez Hilton to destroy Carrie Prejean and ensure she lost. As soon as Carrie said no she doesn’t support gay marriage, Perez and hundreds of gay activists who Trump had brought into the audience for the final night of the competition stood up and began to boo Prejean. She lost, finishing as first runner up. The next day, filthy mouthed homosexual Perez Hilton put out a YouTube video in which he called Carrie Prejean “a dumb bit*h” for not supporting gay marriage. Trump wasn’t finished though humiliating and ruining Prejean. Then, he hired porn star Shanna Moakler to supervise the Miss California Carrie Prejean for the rest of her reign that year. To ensure that first runner up Carrie didn’t get the chance to fill in as the new Miss USA should the winner have won the Miss Universe Pageant, Shanna Moakler booked Carrie Prejean to do appearances in porn magazines, knowing she wouldn’t fulfill such appointments on her obligation calendar for the Miss California organization. The entire time that Shanna Moakler worked for Trump including her time working with underage girls in the Miss Teen USA contest owned by Trump, Shanna Moakler had links to the Playboy porn channel on the Miss USA website. Shanna Moakler was able to have Carrie Prejean fired as Miss California as part of Trump’s disgusting attack on Christians and to help the filthy liberals in the Democratic Party legalize gay marriage. Trump has hired homosexuals for gay marriage to run all of his beauty pageants to indoctrinate all the women who compete in the pageants into supporting homosexuals, he has routinely hired filthy, pro-gay marriage, anti-Christian, atheist bigots like Joan Rivers to appear in his apprentice TV show and up until recently, Trump was a registered Democrat who has had a life time of backroom deals with New York Democrats like Bill and Hillary Clinton. There is no question that Trump is shredding the GOP candidates to help elect Hillary Clinton. Now, I know what side of the fence pro-Trump Ted Cruz sits on.
