Anyone notice the basic Biblical, Constitutional and economical premises being compromised by Democrats and so called conservative Republicans with regard to the shooting in Florida?
A basic premise is an absolute that tolerates no compromise with its antithesis. The homeowner doesn’t compromise with the burglar. To paraphrase Ayn Rand, for the homeowner to offer even one item of silverware would be a complete surrender of that which is true for that which is evil. The burglar’s value is upheld while the principle of property rights is completely surrendered, thus establishing a dangerous precedent for further concession.
Perhaps we misunderstand the term “compromise”? Compromise is only appropriate when both parties have a valid claim. If the two parties agree on property rights they can negotiate on the price of a car. If not, no sale can take place.
The Democrat
Denies parental rights, the Constitution’s lack of enumerated authority over education, the state’s monopoly on education. Even families who don’t have children in school are forced to pay for the inferior product. Denial of the 2nd Amendment.
The Republican
Upholds the 2nd Amendment, but forgets parental rights, property rights, the Constitution and the economic failure that is the state’s monopoly over education.
So, we’re all worshipers of pragmatism. Upholding our highest laws — Biblical, Constitutional and economic — is viewed as expecting a 10 foot high jump.
I’m not going to grant the Democrat or the Republican their basic premise — our natural rights as a cafeteria plan.
Thoreau said it best. “Thousands hacking at the branches to the one striking at the root.”
Who is caring for the child here? Neither party represents their best interest.
If the children in the streets aren’t making sense perhaps it’s because their parents aren’t either.
“In a compromise between food and poison it is only death that can win.” – Atlas Shrugged
Would like to share more but need to run to a meeting with a school board candidate wishing to share their ideas about reform.
Carry on.
