Philadelphia, July 4, 1776 – “We Hold these Truths to be self-evident. That All Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness — That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it.” – Thomas Jefferson, and adopted by the Continental Congress.
We often take these words for granted in the USA, but even Today – elsewhere in the World where Men and Women are not Free – they lift their hearts … that Government should serve the People, not the Reverse… that unjust governments may be set aside… that Life, Liberty and Happiness are transcendant goals. 235 years on, Thomas Jefferson’s words still drive the cause of Freedom and Human Dignity in the 4 corners of the Earth.
” And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the Protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.”
