That hissing sound is the sound of deflating opportunity for Republican State Senators

Read any front page of a California daily today and you’ll see comments, from the State Senate Democratic Caucus news conference, about Yee’s indictment.  They even talk about Calderon and Wright and address that there is an ethics problem in the State Senate.

  • Guess what the California dailies are burying in the stories?  That Yee’s a Democrat.
  • Guess what readers of the dailies see?  Democratic leadership solving the problem.

I know.  I know.  The media are biased against Republicans and Republicans are a super-minority in the Senate and the Assembly.  What could you possibly do?

Leave Sacramento.  Get out.   Go on strike.  Tell the people of California that the Democrats are corrupt and it’s time to elect Republicans in November.  Stop letting Marty Block and Ben Hueso get more press than Joel Anderson and Mark Wyland.

  1. “Guess what the California dailies are burying in the stories?”

For what it’s worth, it’s the biggest story + picture on the LA Times webpage now. I don’t get the paper.

  2. What California dailies are you talking about? As noted below, the U-T dropped the ball, but it is used to relying on AP or other wire services for real news coverage.

LA Times, March 26, ‘State Sen. Leland Yee detained amid series of raids in Bay Area’ – third sentence – “News photos showed Yee, a Democrat who is also running to be California’s secretary of state, in the backseat of a patrol car as he arrived at a federal courthouse in downtown San Francisco.”

SF Chronicle, March 26, ‘California State Sen. Yee arrested in corruption case’ – second sentence: “Yee, a Democrat who represents half of San Francisco and most of San Mateo County and is running for secretary of state, was one of 26 people ensnared in a five-year federal investigation that targeted Raymond “Shrimp Boy” Chow, a notorious Chinatown gangster who had claimed to have gone straight, officials said.”

Sacramento Bee, March 26, ‘Yee’s arrest upends context for California Secretary of State’ – first sentence: “This morning’s arrest of state Sen. Leland Yee roils the race for Secretary of State, although the San Francisco Democrat’s standing in the six-person field seemed to be slipping in recent weeks.”

SJ Mercury News, March 26, ‘State Sen. Leland Yee indicted on arms trafficking, corruption charges’ – fourth sentence – “Yee, D-San Francisco, highlights a series of arrests Wednesday morning that included infamous Chinatown gangster Raymond “Shrimp Boy” Chow, whose past includes a variety of charges including racketeering and drug crimes. Targets of the early-morning raids appeared in federal court in San Francisco on Wednesday afternoon.”

U-T San Diego, March 26, ‘California lawmaker faces gun, corruption charges’ – no mention of Yee’s party affiliation in the story, but he’s id’d in the captioned photo as a Democrat.

  3. I am talking about Republicans who are not talking about these issues – all 3 Dems who have legal issues, all day, 7 days a week. The opportunity exists for a short time to get the attention deficit voters attention NOW, crickets are chirping except Sen. Anderson. Carpe Diem local Republican politicians. Carpe Diem!!!

Ms Right sees my point. The dailies are quoting Democrats, offering solutions for deaing with their corrupt Democratic colleagues. Other than Anderson, the Republican caucus is silent.

Until Republicans win elections, we will be ignored. If the Republican Senate Caucus doesn’t start understanding that they don’t matter until they earn a majority (another 10 Senators), this will continue
