From San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond…
I wanted you to be the first to know that we have officially kicked off our “No on Measure G – Stop the SANDAG Tax” campaign. As a valued supporter, I’m excited to share our first commercial with you.
This commercial, which will be featured on social media and streaming networks, drives home the message that you can’t trust SANDAG with your money. It exposes the real issues behind Measure G, and I wanted to make sure you had the chance to see it before anyone else.
We all know how expensive San Diego already is, and this proposal is completely out of touch with reality. Electricity, gas prices, fire insurance, and housing costs have all gone up, and this is a time for relief and belt-tightening—not for piling on new taxes.
In 2004, San Diegans voted to extend a half-cent sales tax for 40 years starting in 2008. In exchange, SANDAG promised to relieve traffic congestion by making critical highway improvements. Those promises have gone unfulfilled, while public transit has received most of the dollars. We need to hold SANDAG accountable and not let them burden us with another tax that offers little in return.
If you could do me a favor and share this with your friends, family, and neighbors, it would go a long way in spreading the word. The group advocating for this tax has much more money to push their agenda, so it will take all of us working together at the grassroots level to get the truth out there.
Thank you for your continued support. Together, we can that we stop this tax!
