Joel Anderson For Supervisor 2016: MAJOR Contribution Made
I wanted you to be the first to know that on March 4 our Party made a MAJOR contribution to Senator Joel Anderson’s campaign for County Supervisor. We are absolutely committed to electing Joel the next Supervisor from East County and when we endorse someone it means something. See this PDF.
Other Major Priorities For Our Party In 2016 (We’re Not Done Yet)
This is the type of commitment we are going to put behind the re-election of Kevin Faulconer for San Diego Mayor and behind our effort to gain a majority on the San Diego City Council, just to name a few priorities. Our local Republican Party is on offense and it’s all thanks to your support.
2015 Lincoln Reagan Dinner: Saturday, June 13 With Senator Rand Paul
Speaking of support, the date has been set for our 2015 Lincoln Reagan Dinner and it promises to be bigger and better than ever before. Table sales will begin shortly. In the meantime Save The Date.

Public cynicism about political parties and politicians is at an all time high, and people like Joel Anderson (and his local GOP backers) are a big part of the reason.
Craig: I don’t know why you think this. From what I see of Joel, he works long hours for his constituents, supports conservative Republican causes, actively supports other local Republican candidates, gives back by helping the SDRP, and is open and approachable. I think he’ll be a great county supervisor.
Those EVIL Republicans….contributing money together to support a conservative candidate. The horror!
“Public cynicism about political parties and politicians is at an all time high, and people like Joel Anderson (and his local GOP backers) are a big part of the reason.”
So what’s the alternative? Turn a blind eye to the cracks in our own party perpetuated by a 20+ year incumbent? We shouldn’t feel entitled to the seat simply because it’s a heavy GOP district. Internal party debate is good, and the party, as a private organization, can do what it wants. The decision to support Joel Anderson was, after all, a democratic one made by the elected central committee.
Had similar thoughts myself one evening while I listened to Anderson heap lavish praise on Art Madrid at the latter’s last council send-off.
Thought to myself: “Self, I thought, this is an entirely gratuitous overture. No East County politician deserves it less, and no one (as far as I could tell) is holding a gun to Anderson’s head. That tells me something about Anderson. What kind of person would go out of his way to publically compliment the East County’s rottenest politician? A bad sign.
So, what kind of person? Evidently, the same type who would jump on the progressive “green” energy bandwagon and, in so doing, simultaneously consign a local backcountry community to ruin, and help his office building neighbors and major campaign donors (Hamann Const.) develop–with heavy government subsidies–a very large piece of land.
What kind of person? The kind who would respond to inquiries about his association with Hamann by brusquely cutting off all future contact with the questioner.
Party loyalty and support are admirable if the party’s worthwhile. Are the local Republicans? And, in any case, how much does party “ideology” have to do with adequately representing our local communities?
