So Now We Know What’s Important to VOSD

The VOSD, which doesn’t normally do a whole lot on federal issues or campaigns, did decide to opine on Carl DeMaio’s candidacy for Congress. But what was their focus?  They seem very upset that the candidate for Congress who happens to be gay refuses to be the Gay Candidate for Congress.

I know it’s hard to be a leftist…you know, to square your rhetoric with your agenda.  Because, I’m pretty sure it’s all the leftists who keep telling everyone that one’s sexuality shouldn’t matter.  But of course it does matter if you aren’t a leftist.

Carl DeMaio being gay, should by the left’s standards be no more relevant to his candidacy than my being straight.  But it’s not the fact that Carl is gay that is important to VOSD, it’s that he’s Republican.  And that’s a sin.

Keep on keeping left, Voice.  Keep on.

  1. The best part is where voice describes Carl as “big gay proof.” I’d love to see the UT refer to a gay, liberal candidate that way. The left would go crazy.

  2. TA: They also left it out of their facebook post.

Sara Libby writes that the Republican Party’s already hyping Carl DeMaio, a 2014 congressional candidate, as proof it’s evolving on social issues. But that could be a problem: DeMaio won’t discuss those issues. http://vosd.org/17c5RoV

    What do you think?

  3. It appears that whoever is doing the story promotion on social media isn’t as “comfortable” with the big gay proof thing being in the promoting as much as Libby is with it being in the story..

  4. To be fair, VOSD did expose the Poway bond scam when Republican groups like SDCTA were in bed with Poway USD and endorsed the bonds.

Sarah Libby appears to be a leftist bimbo, but please don’t paint the whole VOSD with that broad brush.

  5. Big Gay Proof & To be fair- I’m still waiting for evolution since I had to have my wisdom teeth pulled and so did my younger generation, it clearly takes too long so not sure it exists, regardless, PUSD needed exposure to teach the rest of this state that those types of bonds (CAB) are not financially savvy.

All that matters is that we are represented by a person who can represent us, maybe it is not DeMaio yet probably it is, but we have to look at history and the accomplishments.

  6. This opinion piece by Sara Libby is the standard junk. She’s basically saying that because DeMaio is gay he needs to talk about certain (social) issues and how his sexuality framed his political opinions. Put more bluntly, he’s republican and gay and in her liberal mind he needs to justify how that’s possible.

If DeMaio were straight, she would not ask how his heterosexuality framed his political beliefs.

Why not accept that he’s a politician who’s focused on fiscal/budgetary matters and that’s what he’ll work on if elected?
