Sheriff Joe attracts a crowd of critics and fans in San Diego

Leave it to Arizona’s top Sheriff Joe Arpaio to attract a crowd at a conservative luncheon held in San Diego yesterday.

Not one to shy away from his critics, Sheriff Joe was more than happy to say a few words to the 100 anti-Arpaio protesters from a north county group called Escondido Human Rights Committee.

Before Sheriff Joe gave his speech he took the time to address the protesters in front of the Country Club of Rancho Bernardo. The protesters were waving “Stop the hate,” “Down with Arpaio,” and “Why do you hate Mexicans?” signs.

When Arpaio, who was protected by law enforcement, tried to talk to his adversaries chants of “Racist go home” drowned out his words. But in true Sheriff Joe fashion he smiled at the protesters and went inside the country club to address the folks who invited him to San Diego in the first place.
