State Senate Minority Leader Brian Jones, Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, and San Diego County Supervisor Joel Anderson will team up with other local leaders next Friday, February 21, 2025, at 10 a.m
to announce a Jones-authored bill to overhaul California’s sanctuary state law.

At the press conference, Jones will announce the introduction of the legislation, which will prevent local jurisdictions from passing sanctuary measures stronger than current law, and will require law enforcement to cooperate with ICE for violent offenders and specific crimes.

California law, SB 54 passed in 2017 designated California as a sanctuary state, restricting the use of state and local resources for federal immigration enforcement. However, the law included exceptions for local law enforcement to cooperate with ICE for individuals convicted of serious or violent crimes, including those on the Sex and Arson Registry, and convicted felons with “serious or violent” charges.

San Diego County recently passed an ordinance declaring itself a “Super Sanctuary County,” banning law enforcement from cooperating with ICE for any offense, even those exempted under SB 54, unless a federal warrant is issued. Jones says the county ordinance makes it easier for undocumented immigrants charged with violent crimes, gang activity, or weapons offenses to return to area streets.

The press conference, to be held at the San Diego County Administration Building, 1600 Pacific Hwy in San Diego, will include the San Diego County Deputy Sheriffs’ Association, El Cajon Mayor Bills Wells, Vista Mayor John Franklin, San Marcos City Councilman Ed Musgrove.

The above was summarized from Senator Brian Jones press release.

  1. If any nefarious rogue actor(s) wants to injure any official at the presser, it would be simple. Just broadcast it like herein posted. Mindful of Ziz cultists who are suspected of 5 murders in various states. Evil is out there looking for murderous opportunities. Security needs to be strengthened in any venue where opposition to CA Sanctuary laws is discussed.
