San Diego – Today the SDCGO is excited to announce its first round of endorsements for the 2016 cycle. SDCGO endorses county and city level candidates who actively support Second Amendment issues, are viable candidates for the office they are seeking, and are running against others who do not support the Second Amendment.

Executive Director of SDCGO Michael Schwartz stated, “I interview every one of the candidates in person, their voting record is researched in depth, we search their public comments, and then a recommendation is made to our Board. We may endorse additional candidates as we get closer to the election.”

Here is the list of endorsed candidates for 2016:

• Richard Bailey for Coronado Mayor
• Rob McNelis for Santee Mayor
• Jason Paguio for Chula Vista City Council (District 3)
• Scott Sherman for reelection, San Diego City Council (District 7)
• Amanda Rigby for reelection, Vista City Council
• Keith Blackburn for reelection, Carlsbad City Council
• Kristine Alessio for reelection, La Mesa City Council

The groundswell in both local grassroots support and financial donations across the county since SDCGO’s inception will be used to promote the campaigns of these endorsed candidates.

“I’m excited to get our slate of endorsed candidates into the hands of every Second Amendment volunteer and supporter across San Diego,” Said Schwartz. “Whether it is financial support or an army of grassroots activists, we will do what it takes to ensure those protectors of the Second Amendment are elected to local office.”
