San Diego’s “Radio Mayor” Roger Hedgecock Endorses Carl DeMaio
“Carl DeMaio has taken on the forces of big government and won.”
For immediate release – September 23, 2013
San Diego- TV and radio host Roger Hedgecock today became another endorsement for Carl DeMaio for Congress, citing DeMaio’s extensive history as leading the way for reforms in San Diego that are needed.
“DeMaio doesn’t just point out problems – he is a breath of fresh air in offering bold solutions,” said Hedgecock.
During his time on the San Diego City Council, DeMaio effectively led the way on many fiscal and government reforms, including putting an end to pension spiking, opening city services up to competitive bidding, cutting red tape on small businesses, and defeating the largest tax increase in the history of San Diego.
“In San Diego, DeMaio wrote the plan to save the city from bankruptcy – and while serving in the minority party of the City Council, DeMaio galvanized public pressure to get many of his reforms approved,” Hedgecock said.
Continuing on his plans as a government watchdog, DeMaio created a bold and ambitious “Fix Congress First” initiative to force Congress to live under the same laws that everyday Americans live under.
“The best part about Carl DeMaio is he is ready to take both political parties on in Washington, D.C. to force change,” said Hedgecock. “Carl DeMaio is truly exceptional in today’s political world because he has taken on the forces of big government and won – several times over!”
“I’m thankful for Roger’s endorsement. He clearly sees there are many issues we have to address in Washington, and he’s counting on leaders like me to bring reforms together like we’ve seen in San Diego, said DeMaio.
Hedgecock joins a growing number of endorsements, including from U.S. Congressman Tom McClintock, House Majority Leader Eric Cantor, House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy, and local San Diego City Councilmembers Kevin Faulconer, Mark Kersey, and Scott Sherman.

The “Radio Mayor” must have come to this well thought out and wise decision based on all the extensive and well-publicized debates Mr. DeMaio has been involved in…to see precisely how the candidates stack up under real scrutiny and pressure, being confronted with real issues and timely and relevant concerns for San Diegans…did Mr. Radio Mayor host a debate? Did he, in his powerful and wide-reaching capacity offer such a debate to let the people see for themselves if Mr. DeMaio, up against other candidates might in fact be all he claims?
Sadly, no!
What a hollow victory…
Another former conservative sells out to right wing progressivism!
Bwahahahha. Two voices (maybe one) screaming in the wind. Still.
Attacking Roger Hedgecock for being a sell out?
Yes, that’s right, anyone who doesn’t support Kirk whats-his-name is a sell out. Devoid of conservative purity. Dangerous to morals and society. blah blah blah.
Cue the homophobic rants from Leaderless and Founding Father…in 3, 2, 1….
@Details — It appears you may have missed the sarcasm in the comment above yours.
“Founding Fatherless”…lol..That’s hysterical…
I wonder if the original “Founding Father” knows he/she is being emulated…they say imitation is the highest form of flattery…
In this case, I couldn’t agree with “Fatherless” more!
Cue the predictable accusations from the DeMaio attack dogs. in “Drei, Zwei, Eins”…
What a testament to the power of the blogosphere 🙂
However, its probably The Boss Man…I understand he enjoys using many different avatars to get his agenda across…
“Is that you, Boss Man?”
The rules apply to everyone.
“Details details” has posted under that name prior. One other time he/she posted as another pseudonym, we take note.
So, “Details,” pick a name and stick with it.
“Details” does not appear to have posted under any other names.
As far as attempts to suggest someone is another person, we don’t tolerate the game of trying to out commenters or accusing them of being another. Nor the implication that we apply the rules to some but not others.
Carry on.
“Cue the homophobic rants from Leaderless and Founding Father…”
Of course, “Details” is lacking in details. He/she is going to craft the narrative that anyone…ANYONE, who questions DeMaio politically, or supports the argument for Traditional Marriage MUST be a homophobe (the 21st Century “racist” firebomb…very Pelosi-ish) Thank God lucid people see that ploy for what it is…desperate!
If you are for TM, then you must be against homosexuals…that is as asinine as not being able to accept or acknowledge the Brazilian Constitution because you believe in the US Constitution. Intellectually stunted!!
But hey….How about the original comment…why did Hedgecock not lead a set of debates? Interview other candidates…how irresponsible of the “Radio Mayor” not using his powerful medium to educate, illuminate, and focus on real issues affecting San Diegans…especially our military families…sequestration, military budgets, defense platforms, deployment schedules, national defense, basing…
Nope…he has endorsed a local politician based on local issues that have no bearing on the above issues critical to thousands of San Diegan families…
What a sham…
You beat us to it, but please do tell, “Details,” if you believe because someone supports traditional marriage, that automatically makes them homophobic?
TA,
I hadn’t seen that level of adjudication when RR was accusing others of having the same “Nom de Plume” as he referred. Yet, it is refreshing to see the rules re-iterated for all…passions running high…a lot at stake…millions of dollars, thousands of lives….got it!
Thank you!
And though I cannot speak for FF (Becoming quite the Force Majeure here..lol..love it!), I do see the clever twist and combining our names, though witty, does cause some confusion and has already attributed one comment to one poster that was meant from another…perhaps a ruling on the likeness of names…would Thror’s Assistant be acceptable? How about Byron Bradie? Or Ricardo Ryder?
Details:
Do you believe that because someone supports same sex marriage that automatically makes them homofascist?
We believe we did reply to Richard Rider with details, the last being…
“Are you asking about commenters or blog authors? We have no new bloggers with pseudonyms. Anon commenters are indeed required to select a name and stick with it. In some cases we are aware a name has changed and are ok with that, in instances when they have been outed, etc. That’s rare. As far as guaranteeing that commenters aren’t posting under multiple names, in most cases we can figure it out, but there isn’t a 100 percent foolproof method. If you are suspect of a rule violation, info@sdrostra.com.”
In some cases we have asked commenters to use another name, when the confusion was quite obvious. Let’s see if Fatherless comments again or takes the hint.
Reasonable…and fair…thank you, TA.
(I am the real Founding Father…and I approve this message.. 😉
Carl may be the best candidate, but we will never know if people like Hedgecock do not provide a forum for that discovery. I would like to see both Carl and Kirk answer questions under fire and see if they hold up to scrutiny.
If we just let Nehring handpick the candidates, how do we grow the tent and win elections?
Is this the same Roger who was convicted of a felony and copped a plea on appeal to have it reduced to a lesser charge?
We need to have open debates and discussion, not inside baseball.
Well, all I can say is he must have changed. Haven’t heard him in awhile, but Hedgecock used to be the biggest homophobe on the radio. When KFI had two gay guys on at drivetime, he’d call them the fruit loops, he’d berate any public official who took part in the gay march, and as a counterpoint he organized his own “normal persons” march.
