The following is the press release issued by the Waldron for Assembly campaign:
November 30, 2011
(Escondido, CA) – Escondido Councilwoman Marie Waldron announced that the Lincoln Club of San Diego County has endorsed her candidacy for State Assembly. Waldron is running in the newly created 75th Assembly District, which includes the cities of Escondido and San Marcos; along with Valley Center, Fallbrook and other unincorporated portions of north San Diego County. A quarter of the district’s residents reside in Temecula and unincorporated portions of southwest Riverside County.
The Lincoln Club’s mission is to advance free market principles and ideas by recruiting, endorsing, and financing business-friendly candidates and ballot measures that reflect their commitment to responsible public policy, the expansion of economic opportunity, and an enhanced quality of life throughout San Diego County. There are currently over 250 members.
“Marie is a proven conservative reformer who understands first-hand how the disastrous policies coming out of Sacramento have hurt our region’s businesses, taxpayers, and local governments,” said T.J. Zane, President & CEO of the organization. “Marie’s background, experience, and dedication to fighting for pro-growth principles in Sacramento is exactly why the Lincoln Club unanimously endorsed her.”
The support of the Lincoln Club is just the latest in a long series of prominent endorsements for Waldron. Earlier in the month Escondido Mayor Sam Abed and San Marcos Mayor Jim Desmond joined Waldron’s campaign. Waldron has also released the support of current 75th district legislators Senator Joel Anderson, Senator Mark Wyland, Assemblyman Martin Garrick and Assemblyman Kevin Jeffries.
“I am grateful to have earned the support of the Lincoln Club,” said Waldron. “It is very encouraging to head into the 2012 campaign with a team of so many high profile supporters that have tremendous experience supporting winning campaigns.”
Waldron formally launched her campaign for State Assembly in March. She is a small business owner and has served on the Escondido City Council since 1998. Waldron has been a staunch advocate for fiscal restraint and accountability while on the Escondido City Council, and has opposed all water rate and tax increases.
