So, it used to be annoying that half a dozen of my friends posted insane political memes and conspiracies. Now their behavior is the rule, rather than the exception.
Folks, the Republic was set up in a fairly diligent manner — expressly to stop or slow wild behavior among any of the three branches of government. No one of either party is going to easily set up some sort of dictatorship… in fact overreach tends to just make the over-reacher less effective in practice.
That all being said, what could be dangerous to the Republic is when average people become militantly polarized and start believing that the Republic is in danger if the other side is elected. This opinion is — if Facebook and PEW are any indication — incredibly widespread.
I guess I’d close by noting that for all our faults we have a good thing going on here in America. Let’s not start hating each other so much that we screw it up. Chill-ax.

The 1st, 2nd, and 10th Amendments will be shredded by Hillary’s Supreme Court.
WC, Didn’t the current president already do this? Isn’t the country “gone” already? Isn’t justice Roberts a secret liberal? This is the same crap I’ve been hearing for eight years. Now tell me how much better the previous conservative administration was again.
The previous administration was Republican; not conservative
Paul Therrio,
No. The 1st and 2nd Amendments have been hanging on 5-4.
Granted, Roberts is already anti-10th.
First Amendment threat, you say?
“One of the things I’m going to do if I win, and I hope we do and we’re certainly leading. I’m going to open up our libel laws so when they write purposely negative and horrible and false articles, we can sue them and win lots of money.”
“We’re going to open up those libel laws. So when The New York Times writes a hit piece which is a total disgrace or when The Washington Post, which is there for other reasons, writes a hit piece, we can sue them and win money instead of having no chance of winning because they’re totally protected,”
Yeah I didn’t say Trump was good on the First Amendment. But he was never going to be elected anyway.
Democrats have sworn to take down Citizens United, which is about the right of private filmmakers to distribute a film critical of Hillary Clinton, coincidentally.
