Buy in Chula Vista
One of my goals as Mayor is to ensure that the economy is thriving by attracting quality businesses to Chula Vista. This allows our residents and people outside the city to spend money in Chula Vista to strengthen our economy. By bringing quality new businesses here, it makes it convenient for our community to stay and get everything they need in Chula Vista.
Raising Cane’s
As a Dad, I would wonder why my children and their friends would drive all the way to East County to grab chicken fingers from a classic food chain, Raising Cane’s. It was fast food and chicken, so what was the big deal?
Then when I was out of town in Texas on Navy duty, I thought I would try it for dinner one night with some of my fellow service members. After tasting Raising Cane’s items, I then knew why my children would make a special trip to get their food.
Now I am excited to announce Raising Cane’s is coming to the Chula Vista Center. It will be the first Raising Cane’s in Chula Vista and the entire South County. I hope the Chula Vista location will be a big success providing a new restaurant choice and allow my children and others to spend their money in our city instead of traveling to other parts of the County to go to a Raising Cane’s.
In-N-Out Burger
I understand my children’s desire to drive out on an adventure to get food at Raising Cane’s. When I was a teenager playing club soccer, we would always enjoy going to soccer tournaments in Orange County or farther north, because we knew we would always stop at an In-N-Out Burger on the way home.
I was then proud when Chula Vista opened its first In-N-Out Burger several years ago. The restaurant was instantly successful with the community. Today, there is still a long drive-through line whenever my children and I swing by to get double-double animal style burgers.
The good news is that Chula Vista is getting a second In-N-Out Burger. The new In-N-Out Burger will be located on Main Street next to the 805 freeway and scheduled to open later this year.
Chick-Fil-A
I was proud to cut the ribbon for the opening of the first Chick-Fil-A in Chula Vista several years ago when my children were much younger where they loved the Chick-Fil-A cow. The Eastlake Chick-Fil-A has been a popular restaurant with usually multiple cars in the drive thru line ready to order the famous Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich.
This family favorite restaurant chain will be looking to open a second location in Chula Vista later this year.
