Alianza, a group of prominent Latino business professionals and entrepreneurs, today announced that they have endorsed Nathan Fletcher for mayor, citing his ability to lead the city into a new era through his commitment to innovation and his proven leadership style.
“I am honored to have the endorsement of Alizana,” said Nathan Fletcher. “Our campaign is about investing in San Diego’s future so that we can empower, educate and restore economic prosperity for our city. I look forward to working with Alizana to turn the page on the past decade and propel San Diego into the 21st century.”
Alianza works to empower and support emerging Latino businesses throughout San Diego through business development, mentoring and capital investment.
The announcement comes just one day after the California Small Business Association, a business advocacy group that represents more than 200,000 small businesses statewide, threw their support behind Fletcher’s campaign.
Most recently, Alianza co-hosted the first annual BizFest San Diego 2011 with the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a 3-day entrepreneurial boot camp geared towards Latino students.
“We believe Nathan embodies a modern leadership ability that is required in a new age and tough times. We believe he is the best candidate for the Latino community and for small businesses alike. He serves the people and isn’t afraid to cross party lines to do what is best,” stated Alianza president Miguel Contreras. “It will take the courage and innovative spirit Nathan possesses to move San Diego forward.”
