from former Congressional candidate Nick Popaditch

I have been offered a position in the 2013 Teach For America Corps to teach secondary math (grades 7-12) in the Mississippi Delta. April and I are excited about this new mission, including the new scenery. Changing lives and the world, 30 students at a time. What a great mission — one suitable for a Marine.

The next chapter begins…

Teach For America works in partnership with communities to expand educational opportunity for children facing the challenges of poverty. Founded in 1990, Teach For America recruits and develops a diverse corps of outstanding individuals of all academic disciplines to commit two years to teach in high-need schools and become lifelong leaders in the movement to end educational inequity. Today, more than 10,000 corps members are teaching in 46 urban and rural regions across the country, while nearly 28,000 alumni work across sectors to ensure that all children have access to an excellent education.

  1. To Nick and April, all of my best for you and your family! It is so wonderful you keep serving in your own way…you will be missed very much in San Diego but the people of Mississippi will be fortunate to have you all in their community. God Bless and Good Luck!

  2. Good luck Gunny.
I know that you will spread American patriotism to all your students.
    Have fun !

  3. Hopefully you find the switch from the political world to the education world as rewarding as I did… best of luck.
