In case you’ve somehow missed this is happening Saturday. From Voice of San Diego

Sept. 17th. Ingram Plaza in Liberty Station. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A festival celebrating the ideas that shape San Diego’s future, including a Lincoln/Douglas-style mayoral debate, beer garden and old-fashioned family fun.

Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas debated at county fairs and festivals. Outdoors and free to the public, Politifest 2011 recaptures that spirit (event flier).

Join voiceofsandiego.org and NBC 7 San Diego on Saturday, September 17th for day of fun and lively civic involvement. Politifest will feature a debate between the leading San Diego mayoral candidates, displays from dozens of San Diego civic organizations, an Idea Tournament, local bands, and field day activities for kids and kids-at-heart.

Enjoy food, drink, and fresh air at Ingram Plaza, which is located at the corner of Historic Decatur and Roosevelt roads in Liberty Station in Point Loma (map). The event is free and runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The mayoral debate will be at 10:30 a.m.

There will be ample free parking or you can use public transit. The best and easiest way to arrive the day of the event is via Rosecrans Street or Barnett Avenue. The entrance to Liberty Station on Harbor Drive will be closed. For public transit, bus route 28 will drop you off at Curtis and Rosecrans streets, just two blocks away.
