SACRAMENTO – In his latest “Are You Kidding Me?” segment Assemblyman Brian Jones (R-Santee) reacts to the party atmosphere of public sector labor rallies held at the State Capitol. The First Amendment of the Constitution gives people the right to peacefully protest, but Assemblyman Jones says, “What if I told you that several times a year, during the work week, government labor unions hold rallies at the State Capitol? There’s a lot of dancing, eating, even face painting! And in-between all of the festivities, union employees swarm the Capitol to fight for a bigger slice of the pie. If you think about it, the unions are spending taxpayer dollars to hold these parties. Taxpayers pay the government; the government pays the government worker, and the government worker pays the union. If this balance of special interest power doesn’t turn around quickly, the only people who will have a say in our democracy will be the ones paid for by private citizens.”
