From the Alvarez campaign…
“As a native San Diegan, David Alvarez has been a fierce advocate for his city, and on the Council, has led efforts to build a strong middle class, put neighborhoods first and expand opportunities for kids in and out of school. Today, with the city’s economy and neighborhoods poised to make progress there is no question that David is the right choice to be San Diego’s next mayor and I am excited to support him.” –President Barack Obama

Does this surprise anyone? Right out of the Alinsky playbook; both are for euphemistc “progress”, both are heavily supported by the 21st centruy equivalent of the German SA of the 1930’s, Unions, both like the idea of taxiing people that “do”, and giving it to people that “won’t”, both exploit and pander by race and class, though never quite saying it directly, but obliquely infering the classic progressive idea that “Old White Men, Christians, Conservatives” are the problem…(sound familiar New Majority DeMaio Supporters???)…
Alas, then there is Faulconer…frankly, not the brightest bulb in the lamp…Ole’ Kevin and his Sudberry/Manchester cohort financiers made a conscious decision to tac to the “independent” soft, chewy center…virtually abandoning the Republican label, though he sure didn’t mind accepting the Republican endorsement…
One is a classic progressive…one is a weak and maluable moderate…with candidates like these, who needs to vote at all. Spoken with dozens of people that have eerily referenced not even voting at all this time…sadly, one can understand why.
Maybe next time, the GOP might front a real Republican…you know, one that actually is proud to call himself one, and not hide in the shadows as some political hermaphordite.

Gadzooks! You summed it up, Socialist Party A or Socialist Party B.
I never got around to sending my thank you note to Bill Clinton for bringing us Bob Filner.
FF- Did any real Republicans run in November for Mayor? If not, why not?
The Republicans will not win very many future elections. They hookup with all the money brokers but not with the people. Seems if you want to do anything a Republican you must pay. Carl invites me to many events but always at a donation cost. He really doesn’t want me, just my money. Trouble is I don’t have any money so I never get to see the candidate. The Dem’s make sure their guy/gal gets out among the people, you know the ones who vote and don’t have lots of money, and they do it at no charge.
Until the Republicans learn to stop listening to the “experts” and learn to get out and mingle with us common folks, there is not much hope for the twp party system in this country.
That’s why i have moved to the Constitution Party.
Harold,
There is a true grassroots Republican that you can support..fully, and without $$$ quid pro quos.

His campaign instills faith in the system again.

Elliot, You know as well as I do the whickets and hurdles created by the GOP establishment. Papa Doug, and Sudberry want their ROI…they want to know they can have influence over decisions and entree’ into the Mayor’s office…the CC and the local GOP also want their pound of flesh…want candidates to spend money on their flim flam “consulting” seminars, kiss the ring…”pay the dues” as one insider shared. Even the GOP candidate during the last debate didn’t want to lift the Kimono that he was in fact a Republican..he didn’t disclose it (hardly, if at all) until Alvarez called him on it.
