There is some talk that with various possible financial scandals involving her arts gifts (remember what happened in Encinitas recently), Supervisor Pam Slater might still pull the plug on her campaign for County Supervisor. This mixes the race up and opens the door for more candidates. Two names floating around are Democrat Scott Peters, who previously served on the San Diego City Council, and Assemblyman Martin Garrick. Peters has talked about running for just about anything ever since he left office. Garrick is terming out of the legislature and while he has declared for State Senate, the Sup seat is 2012 while the Senate seat would be 2014. Would either run against Slater? – probably not I’d guess, but in an open seat who knows? Meanwhile candidate Steve Danon, as noted yesterday, got State Senator Joel Anderson’s endorsement.

North…Let’s not assume readers know “what happened in Encinitas recently.” What happened? Link to it, if possible.
The surf and the weather was good, the budget is balanced, and they don’t have a redevelopment agency for the Governor to raid?
