New Majority San Diego Endorses Nathan Fletcher for Mayor
Calls Fletcher a Leader for a New Generation with Record of Success
SAN DIEGO, CA – Today the San Diego chapter of The New Majority announced its endorsement of Nathan Fletcher for Mayor of San Diego. The organization, which is made up of California’s top business and market leaders, came to the decision after interviewing each major candidate in the race.
“Making candidate endorsements is not something the New Majority membership takes lightly,” said Jonathan Bullen, New Majority Board Member. “We looked carefully at each candidate, conducted comprehensive interviews, examined records and carefully deliberated with our entire membership.
“In Nathan, we found the candidate who rose above the rest. He has a proven record of success and has shown that he has a unique ability to bring people together to get the job done. Nathan has the high level leadership skills and pragmatic experience needed to move San Diego into a new era and brighter future,” concluded Bullen.
New Majority Board Members Jonathan Bullen, Kelly Burt and Damian Esparza made the announcement at New Majority’s offices in San Diego, California. In addition, several other members of New Majority were present at the announcement.
Nathan Fletcher said, “I am honored to receive the endorsement of the New Majority. As business leaders, New Majority members understand it is time for a candidate who has a vision for San Diego’s future and the temperament necessary to bring people together to truly lead. When I am mayor I will build consensus for making San Diego the world’s most innovative city,” he concluded.
“We are thrilled to show our support for Nathan with this early endorsement and we hope many others will follow suit. He truly represents a new generation of leadership with new ideas, a new vision and energy that can turn the page on the problems of the past and build coalitions to get things done. We join him in his effort to make San Diego the “World’s Most Innovative City,” said Kelly Burt, Board Vice-Chairman.
Previously, New Majority San Diego announced its support for City Council Candidates Ray Ellis for District 1, Mark Kersey for District 5 and Scott Sherman for District 7. In addition, they endorsed the Comprehensive Pension Reform Initiative and Steve Danon for San Diego County Supervisor for the 2012 Ballot.
