As Nathan Fletcher’s recent gains have come not at the expense of Carl DeMaio but rather Bob Filner (and to a lesser degree Bonnie Dumanis) it seems local Democratic operatives are growing frustrated and starting to dig in to newly Independent Nathan Fletcher’s background.
Not to worry though, as long as Nathan doesn’t have a long history with the Republican Party or connections to George W. Bush or (gasp) Grover Norquist and his Taxpayer Protection Pledge, he’ll do just fine with those coveted decline-to-state and “moderate” Democratic primary voters.

Jim Miller of OBRag , commenting on Fletcher’s endorsement speech:
“There is a technical phrase for someone who can give this speech and then declare himself an independent 17 days later: bulls**t artist.”

This is a LOT less on Nathan and a LOT more on the San Diego media. Seriously, the fawning is over the top.
Why don’t they ask Nathan whether he was wrong to sign this in 2007? Does he believe it contributed to “partisan gridlock”?
