Even for former pro-life, pro-gun conservative Republican Nathan Fletcher and his sycophant supporters, the events of the last few weeks are jaw-dropping.
First, in the wake of the tragic passing of Fletcher-booster and biotech leader Duane Roth, Christine Forrester sent an email in the name of the “Draft Nathan Fletcher” “movement” (no doubt organized by Nathan and/or his wife Mindy), using the death to further Nathan’s candidacy for mayor. Even Fletcher supporters found it pretty gross and a disservice to Roth, whether his family okayed it or not. Let’s face it, it’s just gross.
Now his no-surprise-to-anyone-paying-attention announcement that he’s formed an exploratory committee for mayor. Calling it exploratory is kinda funny as he’s not been exploring anything but the Qualcomm hallways for a fat paycheck, with little professional reponsiblity other than working out, surfing, and practicing his gravely voice. He filed paperwork even before his good friend Bob Filner’s resignation and sent out an email announcing his exploration shortly after the resignation. Complete with a website!
Nathan Fletcher abdicated any civic leadership by being no more than an observer to the scandal and about the only comment he had to make was claiming in a tweet that he asked the mayor to resign a few weeks before — and only after some criticism for not doing so. But let’s face it, he’s in bed with Labor, who fought the resignation every step of the way and admitted in the press that they had “too much invested in him.” Nathan is little better than Marti Emerald in ignoring the harassment and degradation of women in our city in deference to union power.
I for one and am looking forward to watching Nathan get exposed over the next few months and hope the other campaigns share a common objective: stop the epic fraud that is Nathan Fletcher.

So let me get this straight. Up to a few weeks ago, Fletcher was Filner’s biggest fan. They called themselves good friends. Fletcher even introduced him at Filner’s inauguration. Fletcher practically gave Filner a head lock and licked his earlobe every chance he could get. When he got pressure to go against him, he throws his good buddy under the bus.
Fletcher, if anything, is consistently unprincipled and phony.
I join Scaramanga in looking forward to exposing Fletcher for what he is. And I think labor will soon realize what they have helped perpetuate.
ABF = Anyone but Fletcher
Nathan Fletcher never met a mirror he didn’t love.
I don’t know if Nathan Fletcher is a pathological liar, who conned the inner sanctum of the California Republican Party and the San Diego Republican Party, a mercenary whining little brat, for sell to the highest bidder when things don’t go his way, or both, but it is of the utmost importance for the public to learn of his duplicitous behavior. There is no way the San Diego Republican Party can let this boy become the mayor, not just for what he will do as mayor, because, while we have a pretty good idea considering who’s backing him, no one actually knows what he’ll do, as he has no principals, but because San Diego, after all this Filner garbage, deserves better than this morally bankrupt sycophant.
So if ABF = Anyone but Fletcher by extension does ABCD = Anyone but Carl DeMaio?
I just want to understand Nathan’s FOUR YEARS of PERFECT scores from the Cal Chamber and how that squares up with his new found beliefs in the California Democratic Party? It boggles the mind.
Anyone associated with Filthy Filner, like Fletcher was, can’t be allowed to be mayor. Period.
What an even greater laughing stock San Diego would become if the press finds out that we voted in another democrat who wholeheartedly endorsed Filner.
Michael. I’d choose Donna Frye over Fletcher.
The idea of a republican picking Donna Frye over Nathan Fletcher is irrational. Nathan Fletcher left the party because he saw no upward mobility for elected Republicans in California. Unlike anybody else the Democrats offer. Fletcher at least knows how to think like a Republican. Business leaders and Republicans alike will find him more easier to work with rather than a Gloria, or a Kehoe type.
@Still waiting. Do you mean he knows how to pretend to be a Republican? It appears from his own comments recently that is what Nathan was doing for the previous decade.
I think Red and others are saying is that given a choice, they would choose a sincere and honest person (who they may disagree with on many issues) over a chameleon who would “throw their lollipop in the sand” when things don’t go their way.
I am sure the ABF campaign will keep repeating that Fletcher endorsed Filner, but the repitition still won’t make it true because the fact is that Fletcher never endorsed Filner. Of course, a lack of facts have never gotten in the way of an argument that polled well so…
Fletcher practically french kissed Filner starting after the primary. He may be the only one out there who liked being hugged by Filner.
Its sad that extremists who populate the blogs continue to give fodder for the media and liberals alike to make fun of us pragmatic righties. Nathan Fletcher (was) once part of the Bush political machine. Highly unlikely that the likes of Karen Hughes or Rick Perry would associate themselves with a Democratic Mole. Right now Other than Demaio the GOP does not have a viable Mayoral Candidate. Right now Fletcher is the lesser of all evils. Still waiting….
And it wasn’t Fletcher who endorsed Filner, it was Tom Shepard who backed him, Fletcher’s consultant.
@Joe the small business owner:
Anonymity through the use of pseudo-names is allowed, but commenters should use the same name for every comment entry, so as to not falsely appear to be more than one person commenting on the same or several matters.
We don’t assume that your “new” name “Still waiting for Other than DeMaio” is one you’ll use more than when you are making a particular point.
Select a name and stick with it. Like “Joe the small business owner,” for instance.
Sincerely, with all due respect.
I see I have touched a nerve. There was a purpose in the moniker. Some people like to blather on with long diatribes. Sometimes the moniker itself makes the posting more pithy. It was not intended to deceive anybody or imply I was multiple people, otherwise I would have put both monikers on this thread. I wanted to make the case to the SDGOP that we are still waiting for a viable republican candidate “other than Demaio.”
Unfortunately calling me out on a technicality, distracts from the real problem the SDGOP has. Nathan Fletcher has appeal to Republicans and right leaning independents alike.
Yes, sincerely. You just made the very same point without changing your name. All we ask is that you follow the rules. No.different than someone coming on here and naming themselves “Joe is wrong” only when they respond to you. That would be dumb. Thanks.
