My Head Hurts

Another night with The Barkeep. Only now can I put pen to ink, or the computer equivalent. Getting to it, The Barkeep:

So you’ve got how many Republicans in the Mayor’s race? Faulconer, DeMaio, Fletcher, and Francis? Maybe Dumanis, but I’m guessing that deals been made. That’s the word anyway. OK I’d love to see four Republicans as the only four candidates in the race but I just don’t think that’s gonna happen. Any credible Democrat who gets in gets a free ride at this point, given this crowd. Politician. Self funder. Labor activist. Don’t matter. It’s straight to the run off. Nature don’t like a vacuum…

Know what I’d like to know? Why’d the Mayor’s Chief of Staff take that job for the Downtown Partnership? Seems like one of the big public relations firms would have been more likely. So why? Doesn’t make sense…

  1. As to why the mayor’s chief of staff switched to the Downtown Partnership:

Perhaps because the mayor is termed out in 2 years, and his successor might well choose another chief of staff. The Downtown Partnership position is not concerned with term limits.

And then there might be an issue with pay. The Downtown Partnership better offer one smokin’ pension package!!!

Of course, health care coverage is no longer a concern for Kris, assuming she had 10 years employment with the city of San Diego. She presumably gets free lifetime coverage, thanks to us San Diego rubes.
