Congratulations to Escondido Mayor Dane White on launching “The Millennial Mayor” — A Facebook page dedicated to policy matters with a focus on transparency, awareness, and accountability.
Over the years, several elected officials have posted their content to SD Rostra, both a nice benefit to our readers and a big help to the officials in sharing their information on an alternative platform.
In some cases, those offerings are — quite frankly — a little light on policy while more a simple rehash of sometimes fluffy press releases. Still good information, but not necessarily the wonkish stuff that allows for deeper dive thought and analysis.
That is why we’re particularly enthused by Mayor White’s efforts, especially based on his first couple posts. We’ll be rolling them out here. We’d encourage you to follow him.
Here’s the Mayor’s first post, shared a few days ago…
Welcome to The Millennial Mayor!
This page is a space to talk about political decisions and current events that may not originate in the City of Escondido, but still shape our lives and ultimately our futures.
Government moves fast. Policies are adopted, regulations change, and decisions are made every day that affect your cost of living, public safety, and literally every aspect of life.
The goal of this platform is simple: to bring those decisions to light, and easier to understand. Here, I’ll share context, explain why things happen, and highlight how they actually impact your day-to-day life.
