Poll results recently released by the San Diego Unified School District suggesting strong support for an annual parcel tax ballot initiative for school funding among likely voters are being thoroughly discredited by the San Diego County Taxpayers Association.
In a letter to Voice of San Diego published this afternoon and distributed to SDCTA contacts, Taxpayers Association President Lani Lutar makes the case that the poll is faulty and that the Board of Education should not place “another expensive and ultimately pointless ballot initiative” on either the June or November 2010 ballot based on “this useless poll.”
Mark Twain couldn’t have said it better.

It’s not like polling was just invented. How a public agency using the polling of an established firm can spin the results to such a degree and believe no one will take note is funnier to me than the sketchy sampling itself. Thanks to SDCTA for doing its job and to John Nienstedt for the willingness to call foul.
