Why I support Nathan Fletcher for Mayor
by Senator Joel Anderson
Today, I am pleased to announce that my choice for San Diego’s next mayor is Nathan Fletcher. I hope you will join me in strongly supporting him.
Throughout my time in the State Assembly, Nathan proved himself to be a principled leader. Time and time again, he stood side-by-side with the taxpayers, despite repeated calls for higher taxes. This has been tough the last few years. Nathan has withstood attacks in the mail, protests at his office and repeated pressures to raise taxes. However, he always holds firm.
In 2010, Nathan received an A-rating on the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association’s Legislative Scorecard. Additionally, Nathan and I received virtually the same score by the California Federation of Labor scorecard. He has accomplished this with fairness and a tone and temperament that preserves his ability to gain support from Reagan-Democrats.
Nathan’s experience making life-or-death decisions in the Marine Corps has given him the kind of leadership training necessary to make difficult decisions. While he doesn’t shy away from controversy; he is diplomatic in standing firm.
In the Legislature, Nathan has been a leader, who built coalitions and got things done when many said it would be impossible to overcome the challenges in Sacramento.
Nathan has been also been a champion for our party and our candidates. Throughout his tenure, he has contributed upward of a quarter million dollars to further the party’s chosen candidates and various causes.
I firmly believe that with your support, we can actually win a Democrat city and elect Nathan Fletcher as San Diego’s next Mayor.
Nathan Fletcher represents a new generation of leadership and is the right person to serve as mayor of San Diego. It is time to turn the page and elect someone who has a new vision, new energy, and passion for San Diego.
Please join me in supporting Nathan Fletcher, by making a monetary contribution. You can make a credit card donation online at www.nathanfletcher.com. The contribution limit is $500 per individual, or $1,000 per couple and any amount up that limit would be greatly appreciated.
