Fletcher is MUCH Weaker Than Poll

The 10News/U-T San Diego poll released yesterday paints a happy picture for Nathan Fletcher boosters who would like to believe he is in a strong position to succeed Bob Filner as mayor.  But they shouldn’t get too excited.

Voters are almost completely unaware that he made the full conversion to Democrat and are basing their opinions on the belief that he is still a Republican or that he is still an Independent.  The fact is, no one cared that he became a Democrat and there was very modest media coverage of it.  Most people had already moved on from Nathan or thought the conversion was a natural progression of his shape-shifting.

Republican, Democrat and Independent voters will be reminded that in March 2012 he made an impassioned speech in pursuit of the local GOP endorsement, extolling his conservative virtues and flaunting his endorsement from Karl Rove; to just 3 weeks later decrying partisanship and declaring himself an Independent, widely viewed as a self-serving reaction to losing the endorsement to Carl DeMaio; and in May of 2013, writing a lengthy justification of his decision to become a Democrat, surprising only the remaining few Fletcher sycophants who clung to the belief that he has any principles.

That’s 3 parties in the span of about a year.  When voters are reminded of this, all 3 groups will reject him.  Incidentally, Fletcher NEVER performed well with Independents.  It is reported that DeMaio won Indies by 4-1 over Fletcher.

  1. I wonder if anybody sees the parallels of Nathan Fletcher to Peter Navarro?

  2. Scaramanga is right. Most people don’t know he switched to the Democratic Party. When they do hear that, all support goes out the window. I suspect even Democrats, while earlier cheering on the defection, understand that Fletcher has some of the worst qualities that politicians are known for…short of being corrupt (as far we know) here are a few: 1. Saying and doing whatever gets him elected. 2. Can lie without blinking an eye. 3. Being arrogant. 4. Being self absorbed. 5. Zero principals. 6. Zero ideals
    Should I go on?
Don’t worry Nathan, all those bridges you burned won’t affect you as long as you are in San Diego.

  3. The scary thing about Fletcher is that he is actually a worse person than Bob Filner.

He literally has no core what so ever.

He really should be named Narsicuss Fletcher.

  4. One of the reasons that the GOP isn’t concerned about Fletcher is they seem to believe they have a silver bullet.

  5. “Hmmmm” is spot on regarding Fletcher vs. Filner. To Filner’s credit, he was, “as advertised”. His erratic combative behavior was well documented, and he even acknowledged it as “passion”. Filner was not very shy about his commitment to do union members’ bidding when he promised to always give them the best deal possible. He also was very open about wanting to marginalize managed competition. His shameful behavior towards women was known, but ignored by Liberals.

These are all horrible positions, but at least he was candid about it.

On the contrary, Fletcher will do/say anything to get elected. He said he was against Prop D sales tax in 2010, but did nothing to stop it. He eventually went along with pension reform and collected a page or two of signatures, feigning interest in the effort. Then he endorse Lorena Gonzalez who was the leading opposition in both of these efforts. He is indeed simply a man of no principles seeking to reach the presidency at all costs.

“I have more respect for a man who lets me know where he stands, even if he’s wrong. Than the one who comes up like an angel and is nothing but a devil.” – Malcom X (even if you’re not a Malcom X fan, the reasoning is sound)
