‘Together, we will restore integrity to City Hall, put an end to the dysfunction, and heal our city’
San Diego (September 4, 2013): City Councilman Kevin Faulconer declared his candidacy for mayor today.
“I firmly believe San Diego’s best days are ahead – because we’ve turned our city around before,” said Faulconer, joined by his wife, Katherine, and their two young children, Jack and Lauren. “I was first elected to the City Council seven years ago following a mayoral resignation that left San Diego reeling. I’ve worked every day since then to repair the city’s finances and credibility.”
But in a matter of months, Bob Filner halted our progress, and in many cases reversed it.
“Yet as our mayor was at his worst, San Diegans showed their best,” Faulconer said. “From launching a historic recall effort, to rallying to demonstrate our community’s values, San Diegans united and – together – we took our city back.
“I stand with my fellow San Diegans, and I’m ready to do my part to make sure San Diego’s next chapter is its best yet. Together, we will restore integrity to City Hall. Together, we will put an end to the dysfunction and get the city working again for the taxpayers of San Diego.”
Returning trust to the Mayor’s office is the greatest challenge facing our community, Faulconer said.
“I have experience bringing people together, and that’s what I’ll do as your Mayor. I will get our city back on track – and move it forward. This latest crisis has taught us that leadership and principles matter.
“Putting San Diego first is the principle I believe in. That principle will guide my administration. Working together, we will heal our city once again. We will rebuild and restore San Diego.”

Like Carl DeMaio, another “Republican” that opposed Prop 8…it isn’t that he may believe, or not believe in the merits of the Prop…it is the fact that he went against the majority of millions of Californians and tens of thousands of San Diegans because he didn’t “like it.” It was passed, enacted into law…but it was a law, and a core-Republican precept, he was willing to ignore…and in doing so, ignored the will of the majority of his fellow Californians…AND Republicans…
I wonder what else he will decide unilaterally he doesn’t like in order to gain favor with left-leaning pundits at the UT and Republican progressives of the “New Generation” Party within the RPSD??
What is clear is he, like DeMaio, is not a Republican…a Republican would not forgo tens of thousands of his supports for political expedience..
Oh, wait ..yes they would..He’s called “Nathan Fletcher”
Here’s a joke “What do Nathan Fletcher, Carl DeMaio, and Kevin Faulconer all have in common?
They were all once Republicans…
Stay tuned….
