The following is an email San Diego City Council President Pro Tem Kevin Faulconer sent yesterday. It was titled “Important City Council Action Taken Today” and includes a link to a redevelopment op-ed by Faulconer that ran in Sunday’s San Diego Union-Tribune.
Hello:
I am writing to acknowledge the support my City Council colleagues gave today to several important redevelopment projects I brought forward.
The Council voted to approve the first phase of the North Embarcadero Visionary Plan, which will open the City’s waterfront – along Harbor Drive between Broadway and B Street – and beautify an area now lined with parking lots and concrete.
Equally important is the Council’s vote today to move forward on the Bayside fire station. Located at Cedar Street and Pacific Highway, this would be the first fire station constructed Downtown since 1971.
I also was pleased to see the Council support a plan to protect local redevelopment dollars, which, as you know, Governor Jerry Brown is targeting to help him close Sacramento’s growing budget deficit.
In case you missed it, I wrote an op-ed for the San Diego Union-Tribune on the governor’s misguided and shortsighted proposal. It ran in yesterday’s paper. Here is a link to it: http://bit.ly/e3Vgw0
I was on Fox 5 this morning discussing my op-ed. Here is a link to the Fox segment:

Thank you for your time and support. I hope you’re well.
Regards,
Kevin
