Escondido Mayor Sam Abed has endorsed Oceanside Councilmember Jerry Kern for the 76th Assembly District.
“Jerry Kern has not only been an ally when it comes to issues along the 78-corridor, but he’s been an ally in our collective effort to bring fiscal responsibility, limited government, and pro-business policies to North County,” said Abed. “On the issues that matter most, Jerry has more knowledge than practically any elected official, and I know he’ll do wonders for this district in the Assembly.”
“Sam Abed is a warrior for limited government and pro-business policies,” said Kern. “To have him as part of my team reinforces my campaign platform: restoring fiscal sanity to Sacramento and bringing back jobs to California.”
Support from Mayor Sam Abed comes shortly after Kern announced he had support from Supervisor Bill Horn, Vista Mayor Judy Ritter, and members of the Tri-City Hospital Board of Directors. Over the coming weeks, Kern will be rolling out additional endorsements from local leaders.
Jerry Kern has served on the Oceanside City Council since 2006. During his tenure, he led the effort to successfully pass the city charter; soundly defeated a recall attempt funded by public-sector labor unions; opposed tax increases; and implemented pension reform for city workers.
