DeMaio Raises Over $800,000 in Four Months
Strong Fundraising Tally Adds to National Interest,
Key Endorsements and Favorable Polls
San Diego – Continuing to show an impressive fundraising pace, Carl DeMaio announced today that his campaign for Congress raised over $325,000 in the third quarter – bringing his campaign’s tally to over $800,000 in his first four months.
With more than 13 months to go before the November 2014 election, DeMaio sits with more than $700,000 in cash-on-hand. The $800,000-plus tally does not include any funds provided by DeMaio himself. A modest $52,100 of the tally came from Political Action Committees – with the remaining more than $750,000 in funding coming from individual donations from nearly 2000 individual contributors.
“I’m grateful to receive this strong support, which I believe reflects both my record of getting fiscal reforms done in San Diego and my more inclusive vision for the future as a ‘new generation Republican,'” DeMaio said.
Early polling shows DeMaio with substantial leads over incumbent Scott Peters — with two separate polls showing DeMaio up 10 and 9 points. More importantly, both polls show DeMaio winning the key demographics of Independents, Women, Youth and Latinos.
DeMaio has also received a slew of key local endorsements in his first month in the campaign – including the New Majority of California and the Lincoln Club of San Diego. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy both contributed to DeMaio. Many members of the California GOP Congressional Delegation will be hosting a fundraiser in Washington DC for DeMaio on October 9.
DeMaio carried the 52nd District with 58% of the vote in 2012 in his race for Mayor, whereas Scott Peters won the seat by less than 2 points. To learn more about Carl DeMaio and his campaign for Congress, visit www.CarlDeMaio.com

Didn’t Mr. DeMaio have a substantial amount when he began his congressional race…some reports ay as much as 450K already in his political “war-chest.”…so really, only 350K has been raised. in 4 months..if the math is correct…so not 800K….
What have the other candidates raised? They started from scratch…if they even raised a couple hundred thousand in the same period, that is the real story. Given those numbers, that is a completely different (read “open”) contest. If from obscurity to a couple hundred thousand…that is even more impressive than the candidate that already had 450K, with wide name recognition, and an enabling media and tacitly supportive political structure.
It’s becoming a real contest… 🙂 That’s only good for the people of San Diego.
Founding Father has it wrong again. Read the release.
DeMaio began his campaign in June with $0. four months later he has raised $800,000.
Memory serves, your guy Jorgensen raised all but a small portion of his money from his family members.
Real contest indeed.
So, Mr. DeMaio didn’t have any money in his political war-chest from his numerous other sundry political mis-adventures (Mayor, et al??) ? If so, how much was that? How much has actually been raised?
That IS the question…I see you mentioned Mr. Jorgensen…he must be a real concern considering YOU mentioned him, Details…..Competition…that is a good sign for all San Diegans.
There are lots and lots of people who are not family members that have contributed to the “other” campaign…so, on the numbers, that is flatly wrong…need to check your sources, Details…they are failing you! 🙁
Begs the question, what else are you flatly wrong on?
