Strong Fundraising Tally Adds to Month of National Interest, Key Endorsements and Favorable Polls
San Diego – Providing yet another indicator of the strong support for his candidacy, Carl DeMaio announced today that his campaign for Congress raised $483,366 in just one month.
DeMaio launched his campaign May 30 and had just until June 30 to raise money for his campaign’s first FEC report. DeMaio will begin his first full quarter with $469,394.52 in cash-on-hand.
“I’m grateful to receive this strong early support, which I believe reflects both my record of getting fiscal reforms done in San Diego and my more inclusive vision for the future as a ‘new generation Republican,’” DeMaio said.
The impressive fundraising tally adds to DeMaio’s early momentum. Early polling shows DeMaio with substantial leads over incumbent Scott Peters — with two separate polls showing DeMaio up 10 and 9 points.
More importantly, both polls show DeMaio winning the key demographics of Independents, Women, Youth and Latinos.
DeMaio has also received a slew of key local endorsements in his first month in the campaign – including the New Majority of California and the Lincoln Club of San Diego. House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy both contributed to DeMaio during June.
DeMaio will be holding a fundraiser in Washington DC on July 17 – with McCarthy serving as headliner.
The $483,366 tally does not include any funds provided by DeMaio himself. A mere $26,000 of the tally came from Political Action Committees – with the remaining $457,366 funding coming from individual donations from more than 800 contributors.
DeMaio carried the 52nd District with 58% of the vote in 2012 in his race for Mayor, whereas Scott Peters won the seat by less than 2 points. To learn more about Carl DeMaio and his campaign for Congress, visit www.CarlDeMaio.com
