From Congressional candidate Dan Bongino’s Facebook page:

It’s all backwards. What do I mean?

Tonight, while at a Lincoln Dinner, I was talking to a few of our state elected-officials here in Maryland, when I noticed an older gentleman in a green sport-jacket. I wasn’t sure if he was waiting to talk to me or someone else so I didn’t bother him.  After about 15 minutes he approached me and said, “I’m not one of those guys, I’m just a little guy.” He then proceeded to sincerely thank me for taking on this fight.

I write this because Bill H. had it all backwards. Bill H. wasn’t the “little guy”, Bill H. was the biggest guy in that room.

I was deeply touched by the small impact I was able to have on Bill H.’s life but I cannot emphasize to you in strong enough terms that it is not about me. As a matter of fact, it is not about ANY one individual. It is about a series of principles and the corresponding fight for them that matters.

I have an expression on my campaign which I relay to every volunteer and staff member, I tell them that we work with each other and not for each other and the minute you think otherwise, I have failed you.

To all of the Bill H.’s out there, thank you. Thank you for your willingness to continue this fight in the face of extreme adversity, thank you for toiling to change tomorrow instead of simply complaining about today and, finally, thank you for making every minute of this effort rewarding and worthwhile.

And, to the politicians out there who might believe that Bill H. is a “little guy”, I ask that you please stop drinking your own Kool-Aid. It may taste good to you, but it’s poison to all of us.
