NEWS RELEASE
The Christian Science Monitor reported today (11/11/13) on the increasing number of Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans running for Congress. Among those profiled is Kirk Jorgensen, a Marine Corps veteran who is running as a Republican candidate for California’s 52nd congressional district.
More Iraq, Afghanistan vets going from service member to member of Congress
Sixteen members of Congress have served in Iraq or Afghanistan – the largest contingent of former service members to come to Capitol Hill since the 1980s. More could be on the way.

When members of the 113th Congress took their oaths of office earlier this year, they ushered into Washington the largest wave of Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans since those wars began more than a decade ago.
Today, a total of 16 members have served in Iraq or Afghanistan, including the first two female combat veterans ever to be elected to Congress. That makes them the largest contingent of former service members to come to Capitol Hill since the 1980s, according to the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA).
Since they have been voted into office, these new lawmakers “have been incredibly influential,” in helping to drive through legislation to improve care for veterans and those currently serving in the military, says Tom Tarantino, policy associate for the IAVA.

After reading that article, now, think about this regarding Jorgensen’s opponent, who received the endorsement:
1. DeMaio’s campaign has more money than anyone else in the race.
2. DeMaio has been endorsed by most of the career politicians in Washington, D.C.
3. DeMaio has been campaigning in San Diego non-stop for nearly eight years running for three different elected positions!
4. DeMaio’s latest resume filler was losing to Bob Filner.
5. …and only one single vote made the difference to endorse him.
If you were a career politician with lots of money, endorsements and experience, with the establishment behind you, would you be a little concerned (with the election still seven months away) the endorsement was based on one single vote?
A friend of mine who left the Republican Party having had a prominent position in the past a couple years back shared with me after reading the CSM article on Jorgensen:
“Wait for it…buyers remorse will set in…and when the post-mortum analysis on why DeMaio lost to Peters is revealed, the establishment will lament the day they decided to cast conservatives to the curb…”
Another former prominent Republican wrote: “2010 was demonstratively different and refreshingly victorious for the GOP—remarkably so. Why? Conservatives were motivated to vote and made their voices heard in support of the GOP. Those same people who are now despised by the GOP as the “social conservatives.”
He continued, “The reason they showed up to vote? The candidates shared their values, and convictions…candidates who were demonized as “Tea Party” candidates or…the reviled .”social conservatives.”
Those that fail to study history, are doomed to repeat it.
I am convinced, if anyone can challenge the establishment, the parade endorsements of RINOs and faux-conservatives in the GOP, and the complete and monumental mis-calculation by the RPSDC, Jorgensen can.
You’re cute and concise. Only the vested and the groupies will continue to waddle in RINO/DINO filth.
