Cate announces staff selections
Press Release
San Diego, CA: During Chris Cate’s campaign, he promised that he would be an advocate and ally for families in San Diego’s 6th council district. Cate promised that his staff team would be reflective of the diverse and family-oriented district that nearly 150,000 residents call their home. 33% of District 6 residents are of Asian American descent and 1 in every 5 are military. 100% are families.
“My staff team will be exceptional, not mediocre. We will be accessible, not unavailable. We will truly move the needle on connecting and engaging families in our district. Families are single moms, they’re blended, they’re extended, they’re newlyweds, they’re foster parents, and they’re military members. From cradle to college, my district is vibrant and full of life, embracing all families, no matter what their family structures look like,” stated Councilmember-elect, Chris Cate.
Cate’s staff include young political pacesetters, to mothers and military family members. With decades of experience in both the public and private sector, the District 6 staff team will pay homage to their predecessors, and bring enthusiasm and light to neighborhoods that have been dormant for many years.

About Councilmember Chris Cate: Accountability begins here. Chris Cate is the first Asian American to serve on the San Diego City Council in 50 years. He is a powerful ally and advocate for all residents in the neighborhoods of Clairemont Mesa, Kearny Mesa, Mira Mesa, Miramar, Park Village and Sorrento Valley. Prioritizing infrastructure improvements, reducing traffic congestion and helping residents engage with elected officials will improve the quality of life for families in District 6. Working in partnership with City departments, elected officials, businesses and not-for-profit organizations in a transparent manner, all families in District 6 will become more engaged, connected and secure.

I applaud Mr. Cate’s win and believe he will work hard to fulfill the promises made in his campaign. Honoring ones word, what a novel idea – why is it so seldom seen in the ugly world of politics?
Good Luck Mr. Cate – I still remember that call I made to you regarding the alleged corruption at SUHSD – little did you realize the poignant impact of your words.
Isn’t Todd Gloria Filipino? Hopefully that new Communications Director helps Chris get his facts straight.
According to Wikipedia, Gloria “has described his ethnic background in an interview as being: ‘[b]asically half Native American (Tlingit-Haida, an Alaskan tribe), a quarter Filipino and then a little bit of Dutch and Puerto Rican.'”
