Despite whatever public or private contemplating Carl DeMaio may be doing about taking on Duncan Hunter for Congress (read an earlier SD Rostra post), today at the Registrar of Voters he took out his nomination papers and paid the $1,740 filing fee for the seat. The deadline is this Friday, March 9, to return with completed paperwork.

“I appreciate all the San Diegans who have reached out to me to encourage me to run for Congress,” DeMaio told Rostra, reiterating a prior comment. “If we want better results from government, we must first start by fixing Congress and holding them accountable when they violate the public’s trust. I expect to make a decision in the next week.”
