SACRAMENTO – In his latest “Are You Kidding Me?” segment Assemblyman Brian Jones (R-Santee) reacts to the actual amount of debt the state of California is carrying. Governor Brown and Legislative Democrats talk about progress being made in paying down California’s “wall of debt,” but Jones says they’re only telling part of the story. “Our state owes a combined $160 billion for unfunded liabilities in public pension costs. That doesn’t even count the more than $70 billion in debt for retiree health care costs,” Jones says. “But instead of facing the facts, they’re looking for ways to increase spending and government programs.”
