BLOCK LIES ABOUT HIS ‘GET OUT OF JAIL FREE CARD’
FOR VIOLENT OFFENDERS
San Diego – During an appearance on NBC 7’s Politically Speaking hosted by Gene Cubbison, Assemblyman Marty Block lied about the violent prisoners currently being released into local neighborhoods because of his support of and vote for AB 109, The Democrat Early Release bill.
During an exchange between Block and his opponent for the 39th Senate District George Plescia, Block denies that any prisoners have been released:
“Marty Block votes for a budget that is cutting education and releasing prisoners but increasing welfare spending. That’s not acceptable,” Plescia says.
“No prisoners were released. That’s just false,” Block responds.
Under this dangerous program, 52,000 offenders will no longer be serving time in state prison by 2013-14. They are instead being released into our local communities.
Violent crime (murder, attempted murder, and rape) has increased 26% in San Diego County since Marty Block’s Get Out Of Jail Free Card program began.
The entire debate between Plescia and Block was especially notable because of Block’s across the board support for all of the tax increases; opposition to San Diego’s Prop B, supported by 66% of voters; and wholehearted embrace of the $68 billion dollar taxpayer funded High Speed Rail to Nowhere, which will benefit Los Angeles and San Francisco, but not San Diego, as even as they foot the bill for the boondoggle.
“Marty Block’s record speaks for itself. Early release for violent offenders, tax hikes galore, taxpayer funded boondoggles and zero reform,” Plescia commented. “This guy is living in a parallel universe from the rest of us here in reality.”
